ATLANTA, (April 16, 2009) - In this her fifth book titled, The Good Stuff (Harrison House, $13.99), Michelle Stimpson paints a realistic portrait of marriage through two fictional characters - Sonia Riley and Adrian Jacobsen. Her novel explores the concept of marriage by circumstance vs. marriage by covenant. Sonia and Kennard have the "perfect" life: they both have successful careers, beautiful twins, and a charming house. But despite the fact that Kennard is a faithful breadwinner, his emotional distance from the family makes Sonia believe that a good marriage must be more than in name only. Sonia is a grown woman with responsibilities; she's too old for make-believe....
Adrian couldn't love her husband, Darryl, more if she tried. He's the one person who's shown her what real love means. But when it seems that Darryl's more interested in making money than making babies, Adrian wonders what marriage is for? And when a devastating secret from Darryl's past emerges, it seems that their vows may truly break.
Reality begins to kick in after both women are invited to a prayer group by Miss Irma, a seasoned woman of God. Their eyes are opened as they learn the fine art of being a wife and discover that marriage is more than a wedding--it's a lifetime of compromise, patience, and forgiveness. But will help come in time to save their marriages?
The Good Stuff strongly exemplifies the power of Titus chapter 2. Its strength shines through as advice is shared by divorcees, happily married women, miserably married women, and widows. These are women who have been there and have done just about everything in a marriage. Stimpson unashamedly shares with us her own testimony of how God repaired her broken and seemingly irreparable marriage. She gives readers a valuable compilation of lessons learned by women who all agree that if they knew then what they know now, things would have been different.
