Mary Haskett Shows us how to Get Our Prayers Answered in her Latest Book, "Because We Prayed"

becauseweprayedcover.jpgThe one most important thing the disciples asked of the Lord Jesus Christ was, "Lord, teach us to pray." Jesus Christ, through Paul, encourages us, as Christians to "Pray without ceasing." Why? Because it is through prayer, as Mary Haskett in Because We Prayed shares with us, that "In a world where violence and evil prevail, It is only through prayer that we can win those spiritual battles."

Written in anecdotal style, Haskett shares with us the importance of acknowledging God in everything we do, no matter how small we may think it is. Haskett also shares guidelines to keep in mind if we want God to hear our prayers; and she gives us example after example from her own life, the results of complying with those guidelines.
In Because We Prayed, Mary Haskett writes: "I remember when my twins were about seven years old. On their way home from school, they saw some bright red and yellow tulips and decided to pick some to bring home to mommy. They didn't realize the picked flowers were from someone's garden. The owner of the house caught them in the act and flew into a rage. She rushed toward them screaming obscenities, and quickly grabbed one by each arm, demanding to know where they lived, a few minutes later the woman banged on my door. With the smell of alcohol on her breath, she stood there ranting and raving while she held onto my dear, terrified little twins, who sobbed uncontrollably. Did I want to forgive her? No! I wanted to... well, I had better not say!

It truly is a difficult concept to grasp--this forgiving when you know you were wronged. I'm sure you can recall instances when you've struggled with this requirement, and you can imagine how I felt about that woman. I hurt so much for my little ones. I told my Christian friend, who happened to be at my house that day, that I wanted to call the police. But she talked to me about Jesus and His teachings and what He said--so profound: "But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you" (Matthew 5:44, KJV).

Here's what others are already saying about Because We Prayed:

"I heartily recommend it to both newer Christ-followers and seasoned Christian believers, and I'm sure that many a prayer group or small study group would find much to help them in their engagement and growth in the life of prayer and the ministry of intercession."
-Rev. Peter A. Black
Author and Pastor of Watford Pentecostal Assembly, Ontario
Affiliate of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada

"In her second non-fiction book, consummate story-teller Mary Haskett becomes teacher and encourager. Her compassion for people is obvious; her love of the Lord, compelling; and her passion for prayer, contagious. Through her example, and that of the Spirit-directed boldness of her prayer group, readers will be drawn to embrace the same calling."
-Fay Rowe, Author of
Keeper's of the Testimony and What's in a Name

"Mary Haskett epitomizes the essence of a prayer warrior and godly woman. "Because We Prayed" is a wonderful and inspirational book that all Christians should read. It addresses important practical aspects of our Christian faith with personal life applications. It can also be a useful resource for small groups.
