the-end-of-suffering-book-1456.jpgThe notion that Christ's sufferings lacked anything (Col. 1:24) may strike some of us as borderline heresy; the idea is at least counterintuitive. One is very likely to ask, what is yet to be done? What is it that Saint Paul and the rest of us are expected to supply? Could it be ourselves?

going-rogue-cover-858.jpgNews reports that Sarah Palin is planning a separate Christian version of her forthcoming memoir, Going Rogue, are false, according to her publisher, HarperCollins. The reports were so widely circulated that they appear to have caused confusion at Zondervan, a Christian publisher owned by HarperCollins, where the director of publicity said yesterday that a special Christian edition of the book had been planned but was scrapped because of the expedited timetable for the book's release.

The vast majority of sister relationships are like marriages, says Deborah Tannen: They're the source of great solace but also occasional or frequent frustration, irritation or outright pain. But whereas marriage may end in divorce, sisters are sisters forever.

We live in a society of 'I want it now'―a microwave-mentality. We no longer are willing to wait, but want ready answers to our problems. Pastor Donnell Smith, author of Miracles in Slow Motion, reminds us that God does not operate according to our time table. Yes, He's an 'on-time' God, but He's on His own time. Pastor Smith helps us to untangle some reasons why the Lord withholds the "quick-fixes" we often desire in life in order to prepare us for what's "greater-later."

Dr. William L. Washington says the following to his readers in his latest book, Closing Doors on Echoes of the Past: "Beware of open doors, for they release the echoes of your past and draw you back to a time and place you've once endured. You must close the doors of the past in order to enjoy the future that God has for you, for it is a fact: Time does not close doors, we must!"
morethanthegiftcover.jpgEach week millions of Christians give tithes and offerings during the worship services they attend. Yet, many people do not understand the biblical reasons behind their giving nor do they realize what God wants to accomplish in and through them by their giving. More Than the Gift by Larry Robinson will give you a clearer understanding of God's purposes and plans for Christian giving.

Rolanda T. Pyle was on a mission to help others and walked into her own blessing.

"I wanted the book to be a blessing to others, but in the meantime, I went through some challenges of my own and ended up reading the devotional over and over. It blessed me," says Pyle, who compiled the works in the recently published Beneath His Everlasting Wings.

"In this time of economic and other crises, this book will remind people, through the testimony of others, that God is faithful."
becauseweprayedcover.jpgThe one most important thing the disciples asked of the Lord Jesus Christ was, "Lord, teach us to pray." Jesus Christ, through Paul, encourages us, as Christians to "Pray without ceasing." Why? Because it is through prayer, as Mary Haskett in Because We Prayed shares with us, that "In a world where violence and evil prevail, It is only through prayer that we can win those spiritual battles."

Written in anecdotal style, Haskett shares with us the importance of acknowledging God in everything we do, no matter how small we may think it is. Haskett also shares guidelines to keep in mind if we want God to hear our prayers; and she gives us example after example from her own life, the results of complying with those guidelines.

One of the cases Boies and Olson are using as a precedent is Loving v. Virginia, which, in 1967, ruled that it was unconstitutional for any state to have a law prohibiting marriage on the basis of race.

watermelonfaithcover.JPGDr. Evelyn Drayton, in her book, Watermelon Faith compares the heart of man to that of a watermelon. Throughout the pages of this book, Dr. Drayton shows us how to spot wolves in sheep's clothing who are causing problems in churches, or any religious organization, for that matter. Just as we thump and scrutinize a watermelon to find the juiciest one, Dr. Drayton shows us how to thump, scrutinize, and spot those around us who say they are sheep, but underneath all the facade, they are really "devils in disguise"
